Artists Statement
Whether in a resin/glass creation or in acrylic paint, I am inspired by contemporary ideas about landscapes, shapes, forms, and, recently, outer space. In resin/glass, some of my works are abstract, while others are based on a definite idea. The inspiration for a piece may come from particular objects (a bike gear as the sun) or from an idea that I have (what to use to represent a tree?), which sends me looking for items (raven feathers) that represent that concept.
My works have evolved to a more complex use of glass and found objects, further expanding into resin tints, alcohol ink, mica powder and layering the epoxy pours. The nature of epoxy allows me to be spontaneous or create a more complex and precise work by preplanning the composition and then transferring it to the epoxy. I enjoy working with repurposed material and am excited about the depth, texture and reflective quality that glass and other objects bring to my work.
My Resin Glass Creations can be viewed in the Jasper Art Gallery, Fiddle River Restaurant, and Lone Wolf Gallery (Sun Peaks). Other works and those in progress at my studio by appointment.
